Company
In 1981, a retired metal
craftsman and fabricator formed Little Industries to provide quality replaceable parts
for mowing and brushcutting equipment.
Years of experience in the production of mining and logging
equipment enabled him to produce replacement parts which lasted 3 to
5 times longer than the originals. Due to customer demand for cost
saving equipment, the company expanded and began producing complete
brushcutter systems, which also lasted 3 to 5 times longer than other brushcutters.
In 1995, Little began establishing product support and marketing partnerships
with several of the world's leading manufacturer's of tractors.
Little recognized that innovation was required to bring about
more comprehensive solutions to the governmental mowing industry.
For over 30 years, the market had been dominated by products sold as
mere attachments to existing tractors. Although initially inexpensive, this resulted in excessive wear and failure of tractors
as well as limited life and high maintenance costs for the mowing
products.
Little works closely
with its partners to ensure all systems and structures perform as a
fully integrated system with no compromise in safety, durability, or
mowing performance. From the ground up, all components are
designed and selected for dedicated full-time use in severe duty
roadside mowing applications.
Little focuses on using the highest quality materials
and workmanship, assuring many years of brushcutting, high in production, but low in operating
costs.
Little has continued the innovation and attention to quality since
then, and now produces a wide array of Brushcutters, Mowing Heads,
Ditcher Heads, Boom Mowers, Shoulder Mowers, and Quick Attach Brushcutters. In 2002, Little entered into
marketing relationships with AGCO and Caterpillar. These
relationships mean that Little products can be sold and serviced through
a network of respected local dealers across the nation.
The Quality Benchmark
For years the
governmental mowing industry has been dominated by products designed
to meet low bid specifications. Unfortunately this also
meant products with low quality and high maintenance and repair
requirements. Little products are built with such quality that
operating costs over the life of the product are unmatched.
Little's products are designed to last as long as the tractor. Customers
deserve mowing equipment that should last longer than 2-3 years
before requiring significant repairs. When you consider the cost of
our products over eight or more years, there is no match to your
return on investment in Little mowing heads, brushcutters, and
shoulder mowers. We back up this quality commitment with the
industry’s most significant warranty; two years on the structural
framework and other manufactured parts from Little.
Engineering
The key to
quality, long-lasting product begins with engineering.
Little products are more than just attachments to the tractor.
Little works closely with the engineering departments of our
partners to design products that work in conjunction with each
other. We have custom designed frames for all our Boom and Shoulder
Mower products that compliment the tractor features. The frame is
designed to isolate torsional loading on the tractor, thus extending
the life of the tractor. CAD based design,
file sharing, and collaboration with the engineering departments
of our partners allows for the most comprehensive product design
resulting in years of reliable performance for product in the field.
Manufacturing
Quality products
are manufactured to exacting standards by certified welders here in the U.S.A. Two year warranties require an attitude of no
compromises. When Little products are used on the machines
made by
Caterpillar and AGCO, you know that steel thickness,
dimensions, weld quality, and strength meet the highest
standards. Compare our products to the other
products currently on the market and you know that Little sets a new
standard of quality.
Assembly
When engineering
collaborates with the departments of our partners and when
manufacturing is done to exacting standards of workmanship, it is
easy to see why assembly sets a new standard of ease and quality.
Our shoulder mowers and mid-mounted boom mowers are integrated with
the tractor via the PowerPlate PowerFrame. Additional welding,
grinding, and fitting that customers have come to expect from other
products on the market are eliminated. For Dealers requesting
that the product be installed at the factory, Little can accommodate
these installations at one of two sites; our main plant in Oregon or at a
an installation facility in Florida.
Quick-attach
products for Caterpillar IT14G & 924 Work Tools and Unimog U500 Trucks can
be installed at dealerships across the country and do not
require factory installation. The initial installation is usually
accomplished in less than four hours. Thereafter the product can be
removed in less than 30 minutes allowing the vehicle to be used for
multiple implements if desired by the customer.
The Results
There is no
reason the governmental mowing industry needs to rely on the short
life and high maintenance products of the past. Make an investment
in products from Little and Company and come to expect the quality,
durability and reliability that hundreds of other customers across
the country have already experienced.
